Privacy
What happens to your data when you visit, and the choice you have about analytics.
Who is responsible for your data
Invest in ETFs is managed by Turtle Media and Marketing Ltd, which is the data controller for this website: the organisation responsible for any personal data the site handles. For anything to do with privacy, email hello@investinetfs.co.uk or use the contact page.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which guides people read, but only if you agree. Until you choose, it doesn’t load and no cookies are set. The site itself sets no advertising cookies.
- If you accept, Google Analytics sets two cookies:
_gaand one starting_ga_. They tell one visit from another and last up to two years. They don’t tell the site who you are. - What’s collected: the pages you view, how you arrived (for example, from a search engine), your approximate location (country or city), and your device and browser type. Google says Google Analytics 4 doesn’t log or store IP addresses.
- Who handles it: Google provides the service, and the data may be processed outside the UK, including in the US. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, so the data isn’t used for advertising. See Google’s privacy policy.
- If you reject or ignore the cookie bar, Google Analytics doesn’t load and no analytics cookies are set.
Your choice is saved in your browser’s storage so the bar doesn’t keep coming back. That record isn’t a cookie and isn’t sent anywhere. You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; rejecting deletes the analytics cookies.
The legal basis for analytics is your consent.
Live share prices
Some pages can show a live share price chart from TradingView, a market data company. The chart only loads if you select Show the live price.
- Once it loads, TradingView receives your IP address and browser details and may set its own cookies, which it says it uses for things including statistics, security and advertising. See TradingView’s privacy policy.
- Your choice is saved in your browser’s storage so the chart loads straight away next time. Stop showing the live price removes that choice and the chart.
- To remove cookies TradingView has already set, clear the cookies for tradingview.com in your browser’s settings.
Fonts
The site’s fonts are stored on this website and served from it, so loading a page doesn’t send any information to Google or any other font service.
Server logs
Like almost every website, the hosting provider keeps server logs to keep the site secure and running. They record details such as your IP address, the page requested and the time of the request.
The host also uses these logs to produce visitor statistics with a tool called AWStats. These records are stored on a secure server and kept for 12 months, then deleted.
The calculators
The fee calculator and the returns explorer run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored.
If you email
Your email address and message are used only to read and, where possible, reply to your message. They’re never shared or added to a mailing list.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what personal data is held about you and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Use the contact page. If you’re unhappy with the response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
